Football

Football is a widely played team sport that involves two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, competing to score goals by advancing a ball into the opposing team’s net. The primary method of moving the ball is through kicking, although players can also use other parts of their bodies, excluding their hands and arms, with the exception of goalkeepers who can handle the ball within their penalty area. Football is known for its emphasis on teamwork, strategy, and skill, encompassing various techniques such as dribbling, passing, and shooting. The sport is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). Football is played on a rectangular field, typically referred to as a pitch, and is recognized globally, with professional leagues, international competitions, and a passionate fan base. The most prestigious international tournament is the FIFA World Cup, held every four years. Football is referred to as “soccer” in some countries, such as the United States and Canada, to distinguish it from the American football code.
