Tennis

Tennis is a racket sport that can be played individually against a single opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). The game is played on a rectangular court, divided by a net, with players using a stringed racket to hit a lightweight ball over the net into the opponent’s court. The objective is to score points by landing the ball in the opponent’s designated area without them being able to return it. The scoring system includes terms such as “love” (zero), “15,” “30,” “40,” and “game” to denote points within each game, with matches played in sets. The origins of tennis can be traced back to 12th-century France, evolving over centuries into the modern game played worldwide today. Tennis is governed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The sport is characterized by its combination of physical agility, strategic thinking, and precise technique, and is played both recreationally and competitively, encompassing prestigious tournaments such as Wimbledon, the US Open, the French Open, and the Australian Open.
